The short version

Satin and modal scarves should be hand washed cool and pressed through a cloth. Cotton socks can be machine washed at 30 degrees in a laundry bag. Belts and bag hardware should be wiped rather than soaked. Knit caps and gloves should dry flat so the shape does not stretch.

By material

Satin, modal and viscose scarves

Hand wash in cool water with a little non-biological detergent, press the water out rather than wringing, and dry away from a radiator. Press on a low setting through a cotton cloth so the surface keeps its sheen. Store folded rather than hung — a hanger leaves a crease across the bias.

Cotton and cotton-blend socks

Machine wash at 30 degrees inside a laundry bag, dark colours separately for the first few washes, and line dry. Skip the tumble dryer: heat is what kills the elastane in the cuff.

Leather and coated belts

Wipe with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally. Never soak a belt or dry it near heat. A rolled belt in a drawer keeps its shape better than a hung one, which stretches over time.

Resin hair pieces and hardware

Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Keep resin away from hairspray, perfume and direct sun, all of which cloud the surface. Brass and matte hardware will dull slightly with wear — that is the finish ageing, not a fault.

Canvas, nylon and vegan-leather bags

Brush off dry marks first, then spot clean the lining with mild soap on a cloth. Dry naturally with the bag open so the lining does not hold damp.

Wool-blend knit caps and gloves

Hand wash cool or use a wool cycle, then dry flat on a towel and reshape while damp. Hanging a wet knit stretches it permanently.

Storing between seasons

Everything keeps best clean, dry and out of direct sunlight. Knits go in a closed box or bag rather than an open shelf. Scarves fold; belts roll; bags keep their shape better stuffed loosely with tissue.

If a piece fails within 30 days of delivery and it has been cared for as described here, that is a fault and we will replace or refund it. See refunds and cancellations. Damage caused by hot washing, tumble drying or bleaching is not a manufacturing fault, which is why these notes are on the site and on every product page.
